Swedish masters rework their Dead End Kings album for Kscope – mini-site now online featuring fans reworking competition
Dethroned & Uncrowned, the new album from Katatonia, features reworked versions of the tracks from their Dead End Kings album. Now the band are inviting fans to record and submit their own reworking or reinterpretation of a track from the rest of the band’s back catalogue. The re-working can be in any style and of any track the band have written.
The best track will be included as b-side on a future Katatonia digital single. Entries should be uploaded to Soundcloud and then sent to the Kscope dropbox. All tracks will then be added to the Katatonia – Reworkings set on a daily basis so make sure to check regularly to hear all the re-workings.
Full details are available on the album mini-site which is now online. The site features album info, downloads, a lyric video for the track ‘The One You Are Looking For Is Not Here’, a gallery and more.
Dead End Kings, their ninth studio album. The album was the band’s most successful to date and cemented the Swede’s position as masters of sorrowful metal. Dead End Kings was released on the Peaceville label, the band’s home for the past 14 years. Dethroned and Uncrowned is their first release on Kscope, Peaceville’s sister label.
Many of the ecstatic reviews the Dead End Kings received commented on the fact that the album marked another step in the band’s journey towards a more progressive sound. Dethroned and Uncrowned allows them to explore these elements of the record further as they have reworked the album, creating new moods and textures while still staying truthful to the core of the songs.
