Prog Critic's Choice 2013

Prog Magazine have just published their critics choice polls of the year and Kscope artists once again feature heavily in the lists.

Steven Wilson follows his success at the Progressive Music Awards by topping the polls for album of the year poll, with his hugely successful The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories), and Gig of the Year for his show at the Royal Albert Hall.

The album was joined in the top ten by the Wisdom of Crowds album by Bruce Soord with Jonas Renkse (#6) and Echo Street by Amplifier (#8), while Katatonia’s first album for Kscope, Dethroned & Uncrowned, was voted number 12.

Steven commented, “Effusive thanks to the writers of Prog for bestowing on me this much appreciated honour”, before going to joke, “I’m also indebted to Anathema and Akerfeldt for not releasing new albums this year.”

Anathema were, however, well represented in other categories. Universal was voted best multi-media release, with Steven’s recent Drive Home set also in the top 5. Kscope’s two anniversary shows at The Garage in London, which featured Anathema as headliner on the second night alongside seven other acts from the label’s roster, was voted number 3 in the live category.

Once Upon A Time, the 14CD boxset chronicling the career of Family, which was released on Madfish, Kscope’s sister label, was voted #5 in the reissues poll.
