The debut album from Justin Greaves (Crippled Black Phoenix) and Belinda Kordic
The debut album from Se Delan, the duo made up of Justin Greaves, the multi-instrumentalist leader of Crippled Black Phoenix, and Belinda Kordic on vocals, a Swedish singer who previously recorded as Killing Mood, entitled The Fall is available now and has been garnering acclaim from the worldwide media.
Greaves initially came to prominence as drummer with seminal sludge metal act Iron Monkey and went on to form Crippled Black Phoenix in 2004. CBP has since been the sole focus of his musical output, recording seven albums, embarking on countless tours and working with a host of different artists. The Fall feels distinct from anything Greaves has worked on before.
The duo have shared the writing duties on the album, with Justin making the music and Belinda creating the words and vocals. The combination of shared influences (‘music, film and life’) and a mutual understanding of the way each other works have resulted in a beguiling and haunting album. Justin Greaves comments on the inspiration behind the album’s title “like the name Se Delan, it’s a pretty dark subject, there’s a few connotations to it, but the underlying feeling is one of life & death, preparing for God or what might come next… The Fall is close to the band name, Se Delan actually means roughly, to fall into a deep void or to be deep under something, or to be trapped in yourself”
