We’re Here Because We’re Here, the latest album from Anathema, has just been named Classic Rock’s Prog Album of the Year. The award caps a triumphant year for the band which has seen them finally release the long-awaited album and embark on a succession of several successful tours.
</ br>
</ br>
They finish the year with a short tour of Ireland before playing their first gig in their hometown of Liverpool for almost fifteen years on December 21st. The gig, which takes place at the legendary Cavern Club, is in aid of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital’s Imagine Appeal. In addition to the Anathema’s special set there will also be a live auction of rock memorabilia donated by the band and friends. Click here to buy tickets for the show, or if you can’t make it but would still like to donate to the Imagine Appeal, go to Anathema’s website.

</ br>
</ br>
The band are going to be back out on tour in February with a series of days around the UK and in France (full details below). They will be joined on the UK and Irish dates by their Kscope label mates North Atlantic Oscillation.NAO also scored high in the Classic Rock’s critic’s poll with their debut album being named #6 in the Prog album of the year poll just behind Someone Here is Missing by The Pineapple Thief which was at #3.

For the second year in a row Nosound have won the Best Recording award at the Italian Prog awards. A Sense of Loss beat off competition from Osi, Muse, Mars Volta and Porcupine Tree to scoop the prestigious award. Full details of the award can be found HERE.

The album was also reviewed in a recent issue of Classic Rock Prog who described it as ‘a powerfully distinctive record.’ They went on to state:

“Founder member and leader Giancarlo Erra has moved his band purposefully forward from their 2008 album Lightdark, tightening up his songwriting and reining in some of his more wilful atmospheric excesses in the process. The steady well of keyboards and acoustic guitars, the gentle skitterof Gigi Zito’s brilliantly under-the-radar percussion and the soothing sweep of well-placed strings that Erra fuses together into a lush and alluring whole amounts to a unique and shrewdly layered sonic world and a glorious advert for lightness of touch in the pursuit of impact that counts and endures. Despite their penchant for subdued tempos, sober reflection and humble collective restraint, Nosound pack a rela punch, so that even on the fragile lament of My Apology, the expression of their loss is indubitably our substantial gain.”

The 2 disc edition of the album which includes a DVD containing 5.1 surround and 24bit mixes of the album, video footage, picture gallery and more is available from the Kscope store.

Kscope is pleased to announce that the Danse Macabre mix is the winner of the recent Steven Wilson remix competition.

The remix of Abandoner created by Łukasz Langa (www.DailyImprov.net) topped the poll on the Insurgentes mini-site which offered fans the chance to vote for their favourite mix from the eight finalists selected by Steven. This mix will now feature on the CD and download versions of the NSRGNTS RMXS mini-album, alongside mixes from David A. Sitek (TV On The Radio), Dälek, Engineers, Pat Mastelotto and Fear Falls Burning.

We received over 200 entries to the competition, each of which were listened to personally by Steven. He was so impressed by the response and the quality and diversity of the entries that we have decided to launch a new competition to coincide with the release of NSRGNTS RMXS. For this competition rather than asking for people to remix a track, we are instead inviting people to create a video for one of the tracks.

Full details will follow shortly so make sure to check back to the site regularly or sign up to the mailing list, Twitter or RSS feeds.
