Reviews for Drawing Maps from Memory:

In the heady, self-indulgent, avant-garde kaleidoscope of North Atlantic Oscillation's debut album, 'Drawing Maps From Memory' is an obvious choice of single. Heard on its own, it might even lead you to believe that North Atlantic Oscillation are a 'normal' band.

As seems to be the case with North Atlantic Oscillation material, the vocals are relegated to the background, where each word falls in perfect harmony with the stomping drums and punchy piano notes, forming just another layer of sound. The integration is so seamless, you'll find yourself humming along, but you won't be able to distinguish whether you're humming along to the vocals, piano or drums. This is part of 'Drawing Maps From Memory's charm: you can't see any of the joins like you would in your average song. It all makes for an absorbing listening experience.

'Drawing Maps From Memory' has a more rock-orientated slant than the rest of the songs on their 'Grappling Hooks' full length. The guitars provide an unobtrusive background rasp that gives this song the necessary extra weight required of a single.

A panoramic, art-rock tumble - just bear in mind that this is an usually accessible moment for this band.
