Steven Wilson's 'The Raven that Refused to Sing (and Other Stories)' named ‘Album of the Year’ at Progressive Music Awards
Steven Wilson was awarded the prestigious album of the year award for his recent masterpiece The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories) at the second annual Progressive Music Awards. The awards, organised by Prog magazine, were presented at a ceremony in London's Kew Gardens.
Other winners on the night included Marillion (much of who's catalogue is available on Madfish, Kscope's sister label) who were named 'Band of the Year' and Family who won the inaugural 'Storm Thorgeson Grand Design Award' for the 14 CD career spanning boxset. Check out the trailer for a major new Sony Pictures film called Pompeii, which features the title song of The Raven that Refused to Sing.
As part of Record Store Day 2013, there was an exclusive 12″ picture disc single released. The release featured the demo versions of two tracks from the 'The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories)' of tracks 'Luminol' and 'The Watchmaker'. These demo versions have never been available on vinyl before and will be pressed on a heavyweight (180g) picture disc. This release was strictly limited and only available from independent record stores that participated in Record Store Day.

The new album by Steven Wilson The Raven that Refused to Sing (and other stories) will be released on Kscope on 25th February. The album was written between January-July and recorded in Los Angeles in September with Steven's current band line up of Guthrie Govan - lead guitar, Nick Beggs - bass guitar, Marco Minnemann - drums, Adam Holzman - keyboards, Theo Travis - saxophone / flute, and engineered by legendary producer/engineer Alan Parsons. The 6 tracks on the album are all based on stories of the supernatural, and the deluxe 4 disc edition comes in the form of a 128 page hardback book containing lyrics and ghost stories illustrated by Hajo Mueller. In addition to the deluxe edition there will be regular CD, CD/DVDV media book, Blu-Ray and 2LP vinyl editions, with the DVDV and Blu-ray editions featuring a 5.1 mix of the album and other bonus material.
The tour to promote the album starts on 1st March in Europe, and will continue throughout the rest of the year visiting many other countries, see confirmed dates on Steven's website.
